The unique environment of Epirus along with the characteristic culture of the inhabitants offer an unparalleled combination. Apart from the mountainous interior, Epirus has a long coast to the Ionian Sea, while the culture of the locals respesents a significant part of the Greek culture. Due to its alpine nature and the close proximity of its western and southern parts to the sea, the climate of Epirus is continental in the interior and mild in the coastal areas.

Epirus is a rugged area of Greece, where the borders between Greece and Albania are located. Epirus is separated from Macedonia and Thessaly by the Pindus Mountains. The winds from the Ionian Sea offer the region more rainfall than any other part of Greece.
